Apache Cactus

Apache Gump
Gump is Apache's continuous integration tool, supporting building via Apache Ant, Apache Maven and other build tools. Gump builds and compiles software against the latest development versions of those projects. This allows gump to detect potentially incompatible changes to that software just a few hours after those changes are checked into the version control system. Notifications are sent to the project team as soon as such a change is detected, referencing more detailed reports available online.

Apache Shale

Apache Wicket
Wicket is a Java Web application framework designed for simplicity, separation of concerns, and ease of development. Wicket pages can be mocked up, previewed, and revised using standard WYSIWYG HTML design tools. Dynamic content processing and form handling is handled in Java code using a component model backed by POJO data beans that can be persisted by a variety of persistence technologies.

Application Privacy Monitoring for JDBC
Application Privacy Monitoring for JDBC (APM4JDBC) is a technology preview for adding privacy policy enforcement to existing Web applications that use JDBC/SQL. Privacy monitoring technology can assist in compliance with stated privacy policies and allow organizations to control the use of personally identifiable information (PII). APM4JDBC functions as a privacy monitor for so that access can be verified to be in compliance by IBM Tivoli Privacy Manager (TPM), which provides server support for creating, deploying, and administering privacy policies as well as for checking conformance to policies and for logging auditable data on data accesses.

ARP, which stands for "Another RDF Parser", is an open-source parser for the RDF (Resource Definition Framework) standard. ARP, which is compliant with numerous standards and recommendations, is derived from the HP Jena project.
 
 
ASM
ASM is a Java bytecode manipulation framework. It can be used to dynamically generate stub classes or other proxy classes, directly in binary form, or to dynamically modify classes at load time. ASM provides similar functionality to toolkits like BCEL and SERP, but is designed to be smaller and faster, making it suitable for use in real-time code instrumentation.

AspectJ is a seamless aspect-oriented extension to the Java language that enables clean modularization of crosscutting concerns, such as error checking and handling, synchronization, context-sensitive behavior, performance optimizations, monitoring and logging, debugging support, and multi-object protocols.
 
 
Assertion Extensions for JUnit
Assertion Extensions for JUnit (JUnitX) is a set of assertion extensions that attempts to cover the most common test scenarios in Java software development, including method contracts for library methods. For example, JunitX includes tests to verify that Object.hashCode and Object.equals are consistent with each other, and can verify that objects serialize and deserialize properly.
 
 
Asynchronous I/O for Java
Asynchronous IO for Java (AIO4J) provides the capability to perform asynchronous IO on sockets and files. AIO4J can be used as a replacement for classic synchronous IO and also as an alternative to the New IO package (java.nio) introduced in Java 1.4, with performance and scalability that is better than either of these other packages. AIO4J aims address the "C10K problem": building server applications that serve 10,000 clients simultaneously with good responsiveness and performance. This is very difficult with Java synchronous IO because most systems cannot sustain 10,000 threads, and Java New IO does not currently perform well with such a load.

BeanShell
BeanShell is a Java-compatible scripting language. BeanShell can interpret ordinary Java source and load .java source files from the class path. BeanShell scripted classes are fully typed and appear to outside Java code and via reflective inspection as ordinary classes. However, their implementation is fully dynamic and they may include arbitrary BeanShell scripts in their bodies, methods, and constructors. Users may freely mix loose, unstructured BeanShell scripts, method closures, and full scripted classes.
 
 
BeepLite Networking Layer
The IBM BeepLite Networking Layer is a Java implementation of BEEP (RFC 3080, RFC 3081), a generic application protocol kernel for connection-oriented, asynchronous interactions. It supports dynamic, pluggable application protocols for peer-to-peer, client-server, or server-to-server scenarios. It allows multiple channels over one or more authenticated sessions, and it supports arbitrary MIME payloads, including XML.

Bossa Workflow
Bossa is a lightweight workflow engine which was designed to be embedded in Java applications. It uses a Petri net notation to define workflow cases, tasks, and resources. Call Control XML Interpreter
Call Control XML (CCXML) Interpreter consists of an interpreter for WebSphere Voice Response for AIX supporting the VoiceXML standard. A CCXML application allows sophisticated multiple-call handling and control, including the ability to place outgoing calls, to answer incoming calls, and to invoke voice applications. It allows for handling of a class of asynchronous events and advanced telephony operations involving substantial amounts of signals, status events, and message passing.
 
 
Castor
Castor is an open-source data binding framework. It supports generation of Java class files from an XML DTD or XML Schema, marshalling and unmarshalling of Java objects via XML, persistence of Java objects in SQL databases via JDO, and mapping of OQL queries to SQL queries.
 
 
Character Data Conversion Tables
Character Data Conversion Tables provides code point mappings from a specified source code to a specified target code. This extensive resource of conversion tables was developed by The Globalization Center of Competency at the IBM Toronto Software Development Laboratory. The tables include code pages for single-byte, double-byte, Unicode, and Extended UNIX Code (EUC). The conversion tables are not limited to IBM codes. They include pairings for Microsoft and ISO-defined code pages and others.
 
 
Checkstyle
Checkstyle is a development tool to test Java code for adherence to a coding style. It automates the process of checking Java code, and allows you to customize the style rules it uses. It includes rules for validating commenting conventions, naming conventions, class design issues, class size, code formatting, and coding style.
 
 
Class Finder Toolkit for WebSphere Application Server
This toolkit helps users to quickly resolve ClassDefNotFound and VerifyError or any other classloader-related problems that occur at run time. J2EE applications can run into classloading errors if components use different versions of libraries than those used by the application server, or if multiple components include the same classes or JARs. Class Finder Toolkit for WAS can examine all the classpaths at run time for the problematic module and show which one contains the conflicting class.
 
 
Clover
Clover is a code coverage tool, measuring the effectiveness of testing and identifying sections of code that tests are not adequately exercising. Clover can be used to find dead code, track "coverage goals", and identify when the testing effort is not keeping up with development. It has plugins for many IDEs, integration with ANT and Maven, and can generate reports in HTML, XML, or PDF.
 
 
Cobertura
Cobertura calculates the percentage of code accessed by tests. It can be used to identify which parts of your Java program are lacking test coverage. It can also report on branch coverage and calculate cyclometric complexity.
 
 
CocoBase
CocoBase is a sophisticated object-relational mapping tool for providing "transparent persistence" to enterprise applications. It is integrated with many major application servers, IDEs, and modeling tools, and generates Java class files, CMP/BMP entity beans, JSP pages, and servlets.

Programs that modify a database are difficult to regression test. The Dbunit database testing framework is a JUnit extension that sets up your database in a known state before executing your tests, and confirms that the database is in the required state after the test is executed. This enables regression testing of the database side-effects of your classes.

Drools is an open-source Rules Engine implementation based on the "Rete" algorithm. Drools is designed to allow pluggeable rules language implementations. Rules can be written in Java, Python and Groovy.
