Follow along as the IBM Workplace Forms integration sample for IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender shows you how to use the integration framework to integrate Workplace Forms with WebSphere Transformation Extender V8.1. This demo includes a simple purchase order sample application that you can use as the basis for future applications.

System requirements

The following list includes software requirements needed to use this sample:

• IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.x or Apache Tomcat 5.5
• IBM DB2 Express-C 9
• IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender V8.1 SDK
• IBM Workplace Forms Viewer V2.5 or later
• IBM Workplace Forms Server API V2.5 or later
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later

This demo requires a minimum of 2 MB disk space on your local machine.

About the demo

The IBM Workplace Forms integration sample for IBM WebSphere Transformation Extender shows you how to integrate Workplace Forms with IBM DB2 using the WebSphere Transformation Extender and the integration framework (development of which is described in the Demo Guide). This sample demo application implements a scenario common to almost all solutions and industry scenarios: Requesting a template that is pre-populated before being rendered to the user. On submission, data is extracted from the form to update and/or create instances in a backend database repository. After the data is in the backend repository, some workflow/routing is performed to process that data.

In this application, you use an XFDL purchase order form and integrate it with DB2 with the integration framework and WebSphere Transformation Extender.

The purchase order scenario used for building this sample demo is simple and generic to illustrate aspects of a Workplace Forms application that apply to businesses across many industries. Developers can easily and quickly reuse components from this demo to build their own applications that integrate Workplace Forms with DB2 using the integration framework.

This demo consists of database scripts, Workplace Forms forms, TX files, and a RAD project interchange. The Demo Guide describes how to install and how to run the demo.
