Registration FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the developerWorks Lotus registration system

developerWorks

The Registration FAQ provides answers to commonly asked questions about developerWorks Lotus (formerly Lotus Developer Domain/Notes.net) registration for discussion forums, Lotus Sandbox, and beta programs.

Why am I experiencing authentication problems after successfully registering with developerWorks Lotus?
You will receive confirmation email after you submit the registration form that tells you that you have successfully registered. You should receive this email shortly after you register, but please allow up to two hours for this email to arrive, just in case we are experiencing heavy server traffic. If you do not get this confirmation email, do not assume you are registered!

If you successfully registered (and have received a confirmation email), but still have authentication problems, wait an hour and try your user name and password again. If you still experience problems, contact us at dwlotus@us.ibm.com.

I have a valid account, but can't log into the site. What am I doing wrong?
There may be several reasons why you are unable to log into developerWorks Lotus. Here are some troubleshooting tips to help you resolve the issue.

  • Make sure that you are logging into www-10.lotus.com and not a notes.net domain address.
  • Make sure that your Web browser will accept cookies.
  • Make sure that you are using the correct user and password. If you are unsure of the user name or password that you are using or if you have forgotten either one, you can request your user name and/or a new password. See below for more information about submitting forgotten user name or password requests.

Is there a fee for registering with developerWorks Lotus?
No, our registration is completely free. There is no charge for registering with us.

What happens to my registration information?
We do not sell or give your information to anyone outside of IBM. We do use the information internally for our own IBM marketing and sales departments, unless you check the box on your registration profile that says "Please do not use the information collected here for future marketing or promotional contacts or other communications beyond the scope of this transaction."

How do I change my password?
To change your password, click the "Update your registration" link on the main Registration page.

What if I have forgotten my password?
If you know the user name and email address with which you registered, you can use the Forgotten Password Request form to request a new password. After you submit your user name and email address, we'll reset your password and send you a new one. The password will be randomly generated. However, you can then click the "Update your registration" link on the Registration page, authenticate with the random password, and update your account with a new password that you can remember.

What if I have forgotten my user name?
If you know the email address with which you registered, you can use the Forgotten User Name Request form to request your user name. After you submit your email address, we will email your user name. If you created more than one account with the same email address, we will send you all the user names listed for that email address.

When will I need to use my user name and password?
A user name and password are only necessary for participating in the discussion forums; for rating applications in the Lotus Sandbox; and for participating in Beta program discussion forums.
